The Guatemala Women’s National Team will play on February 17 the preliminary round match towards the Concacaf Gold Cup W against its counterpart from El Salvador.

The match is scheduled to be played at 9 p.m. in Guatemala at the Dignity Health Sports Park Track and Field Stadium, an alternate field within the sports complex where the Galaxy’s main stadium is located.

However, one day before the match, the representatives of Guatemala and El Salvador raised their voices via social networks and showed their dissatisfaction with the venue of the match.

Ana Lucía Martínez, forward of CF Rayadas de Monterrey of the Liga MX Femenina, reacted in X and expressed his disagreement with not playing in the Dignity Health Sports ParkGalaxy stadium in the MLS, located in the same complex where the Track and Field Stadium is.

The representative of the Guatemalan team indicated that it is “crazy” not to play in the main stadium since the capacity of the Track and Field Stadium is small in relation to the number of people who have shown interest in watching the match.

It’s crazy that we’re not playing in the LA Galaxy main stadium and a lot of people want to come to our game! We have to fight for equality“, he expressed in his account X, before Twitter.

For her part, Juana Plata, the national team from El Salvador, also mentioned via X that his family is traveling to Los Angeles for the game but will not be able to get tickets.

The fact that my family is taking the time to fly to Los Angeles for this game and not being able to get tickets to this game is not okay. Why don’t we play in the stadium that we were initially promised?“, wrote.

On the official Concacaf website, the stadium that says it will be used for the preliminary round matches is the Dignity Health Sports Park. This scenario would also be the venue for the duels between Guyana against the Dominican Republic and Haiti against Puerto Rico.
