“We need a new Constitution” – Publimetro Chile

Gary Medel’s statements regarding what is happening in our country in terms of health and education compared to Europe continue to generate repercussions. And this time it was the President himself, Gabriel Boric, who referred to the matter.

In dialogue with Radio Polarin the middle of his visit to the Region of Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctica, the President commented on these sayings of the current Bologna soccer player from Italy, who intends to settle in Spain following retiring from professional soccer.

“That is the underlying issue that Gary raises, why we have to move towards the process of change and why we need a new Constitution,” Boric said.

Along the same lines, the President established that “it cannot be that in Chile the quality of health and education that you access still depends on the size of the families’ wallet. That’s why we need to make these changes.”

It should be remembered that in an interview with LUN, Gary Medel disclosed his reasons for choosing for settling in Spain instead of returning to Chilewhen he ends his career as a professional footballer.

“Security is an issue, although you always have to be aware of that. And another thing that matters a lot to me is that my family has guaranteed health and education,” said the UC-trained player, adding that “it is clear that good health care is not guaranteed in Chile. Luckily I can afford it, but I know many can’t. The same with education. That is different in Spain”.
