It is a special pleasure and honor for our island to host the initiative, the pilot program, organized by the “Maria Tsakou”, “Yiannis Latsis” and HELMEPA Public Benefit Foundations.

Goals that are discussed and reviewed systematically. In this context, the role of governments and especially those that have the will, like the Greek one, to prevent the consequences and deal with the effects is more than important.
The issue is that solutions come at a cost. High cost. However, the failure to respond to the new challenges has an even greater cost, now, not only in the future.
Fires, floods, extreme weather events pose a danger to the life and property of citizens.
But also for production capacity. Agriculture, tourism already affected. In this environment, our country has traveled an important path towards environmental sanitation, with investments and an increase in the energy footprint in green development.
For Chios we are implementing the energy transition with the future interconnection, but the use of renewable energy sources, which are important for sustainable development and the creation of a more sustainable future, must be increased.
Today’s conference makes an important contribution to raising public awareness, necessary to support the transition to a more sustainable future.
