We know when Macron’s electric car will be released at 100 €/month

The Minister for Ecological Transition, Christophe Béchu, unveiled the release of the electric car of Macron. Announced during the presidential election, its launch is scheduled before the end of 2023.

Emmanuel Macron would count on honoring his electoral promise: a European-made electric car. Thus, the ministers are working behind the scenes to set up the electric vehicle which will cost €100 monthly. This is a long-term rental reserved for French people with a more modest income. The goal is to support them in their ecological transition process.

An electric vehicle for rent at 100 € per month, aimed at French people with modest incomes! This is one of the promises made by Emmanuel Macron during the 2022 election campaign. But where are we?

On February 15, 2023, on RMC in “Apolline Matin”, Christophe Béchu assured that the contours, the configuration of the device would be set by the end of 2023. However, he added that we should not rush. This would avoid favoring foreign manufacturers who, at present, are more advanced.

If exit is planned for the second quarter of 2023the delivery of pre-orders of this electric car from Macron will begin in 2024.

In October 2022, Emmanuel Macron had already affirmed that the switch to electric was “an opportunity to relaunch an industry with new objectives”. Indeed, the President is reluctant to grant “the lion’s share” to Chinese manufacturers.

The Minister for Ecological Transition clarified that the government was aiming for two objectives when releasing Macron’s electric car. In fact, the first is respect the President’s commitment. And then, the second, that the device is beneficial to European industrythus avoiding subsidizing cars manufactured in other countries.

In France, the electrification of the vehicle fleet is creating opportunities. Emmanuel Macron aims to produce 2 million electric cars by 2030, In France. To achieve this, he is notably putting on the table a future lithium manufacturing plant in 2028 already.

Electric car rental

For the moment, we still do not know the details of this program. The various bonuses and aids will allow everyone to subscribe to the rental. In other words, it is a subscription system, in which you have to pay 100 euros monthly to take advantage of the electric vehicle.

It should be noted one last time that the first beneficiaries of the measure will be people whose level of income does not allow them to acquire an electric car. Likewise, liberal professionals who use their own car as a means of transport to carry out their mission. But given that the government aims to establish an entirely Franco-European industry, the release of “Macron’s electric car” may take some time.
