Fans of the world’s most famous mustachioed plumber will be delighted: images from the Super Mario Bros movie are available! This animated film directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic will be released in French cinemas on March 29, 2023.
It is the second time that the character of Mario, from the famous Nintendo video game, is adapted to the cinema, following a version in 1993 which had been a critical and commercial failure.
Produced by Illumination Entertainment (Me, Despicable Me) and distributed by Universal, this new version follows the adventures of Mario and his brother, Luigi, forced to leave their struggling plumbing business. They embark on a crazy adventure in the Mushroom Kingdomwhere they attempt to unite the country to defeat Bowser.
This Mushroom Kingdom is precisely at the heart of the extract which was unveiled by Universal during des Game Awards, a ceremony which is held every year in the United States and distinguishes video games and personalities from the video game industry. Lasting a little over 1 minute 30, the extract shows Mario strolling through this kingdom reminiscent of video game spirit nintendo with famous music in the background and many well-known details Mario fans: coins, mushrooms, pipes or even, at the end of the video, Princess Peach’s palace.
This short excerpt also allows you to discover the original voices from Super Mario Bros: Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) doubles the character of Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Game) lends her voice to Princess Peach, Charlie Day (How to kill his boss?) is Luigi, Keegan-Michael Key (Fargo) double Toad et Jack Black (The Holiday) plays the villainous Bowser.
