In the summer, <a href="https://www.archyde.com/2-8-departure-for-st-polten-against-wolfsburg-to-say-goodbye-to-the-cl/" title="2: 8 departure for St. Pölten against Wolfsburg to say goodbye to the CL”>Ewa Pajor moved from German Wolfsburg to the best club in the world – FC Barcelona, where she is the main goal scorer in Pere Romeu’s team, scoring 10 goals in the first nine official matches. But she won’t count last season as a particularly successful one, even though she became the top scorer in the German Bundesliga with 18 goals.

All because Pajor’s team, VfL Wolfsburg, disgraced itself at the beginning of the competition and did not play in the Champions League at all, in which it had advanced to the grand final a season earlier with the Polish representative as the competition’s best scorer. In last season’s qualifying rounds, the French Paris FC was better than Wolfsburg, winning 5-3 on aggregate.
In turn, in the German league, despite playing only domestically, the Wolves had to acknowledge the superiority of Bayern Munich, although they won the German Cup as a consolation.
Ewa Pajor in 29th place in the Ballon d’Or plebiscite
This also translated into the results of the Ballon d’Or plebiscite. Even though Ewa Pajor was among the 30 nominees for this award, as reported by “France Football”, she was only in 29th place. The Pole was only ahead of Grace Geyoro from PSG among the finalists.
Who will win the Women’s Ballon d’Or? The big favorites for this award are three of Pajor’s club friends from FC Barcelona – the Norwegian Caroline Graham Hansen and two from Spain – Salma Paralluelo and the defending champion Aitana Bonmati.
A big surprise in relation to the latest media information is to take place in the men’s competition, where the midfielder of Manchester City and the Spanish national team, Rodri, is to win at the expense of Real Madrid players – Brazilian Vinicius Junior and Englishman Jude Bellingham.

**Interview with Ewa Pajor: From Wolfsburg to Barcelona**
**Editor:** Ewa, it’s been quite a transition for you moving from Wolfsburg to FC Barcelona. How has the change impacted your game so far?
**Ewa Pajor:** Absolutely! Moving to Barcelona has been an incredible experience. The team’s playstyle here is very dynamic and demands a lot from each player. It has definitely challenged me to step up my game, but I feel like I’m getting to know the tactics really well. Scoring 10 goals in my first nine matches has been really rewarding!
**Editor:** You had an outstanding season in the Bundesliga last year, finishing as the top scorer. What do you think made that season so successful for you?
**Ewa Pajor:** Last season was a mix of hard work and belief. I felt really confident on the pitch with my teammates at Wolfsburg, and we had great chemistry. However, I wouldn’t say it was my best season overall as I was hoping to contribute even more in other ways, like assists and overall play. This year, I aim to bring that same success here at Barcelona.
**Editor:** Speaking of Barcelona, how do you feel about the level of competition in La Liga compared to the Bundesliga?
**Ewa Pajor:** It’s quite different. La Liga has a unique flair, and every match is a fierce battle. The quality is incredibly high, and I think playing against top clubs like Madrid and Atlético brings another level of intensity. This is what I craved – the chance to compete with the best every week.
**Editor:** How do you envision your role in this Barcelona team under Pere Romeu?
**Ewa Pajor:** My role is to be a goal-scorer and leader on the pitch. I want to contribute strategically, ensuring we have a strong attack. Pere Romeu has put a lot of trust in me, and I’m excited about the journey ahead with this talented squad.
**Editor:** Lastly, what are your personal goals for this season?
**Ewa Pajor:** I want to continue scoring, of course, and help the team win championships. But personally, I also want to grow as a player, learn from my teammates, and adapt to the style of play here. That is where my focus is right now.
**Editor:** Thank you, Ewa! We look forward to watching you shine this season with Barcelona.
**Ewa Pajor:** Thank you for having me! I appreciate the support!

**Editor:** Despite your individual success, Wolfsburg had a tough season without Champions League football. How did that affect you personally?
**Ewa Pajor:** It was frustrating for sure. Playing in the Champions League is something every player dreams of, and missing out after being in the final the previous season was disappointing. Yet, it served as motivation for me to seek new opportunities, and ultimately, joining Barcelona felt like the right move to further my career.
**Editor:** You’ve recently been nominated for the Ballon d’Or but placed 29th. How do you feel about that recognition and the competition among your peers?
**Ewa Pajor:** Being nominated is an honor, and while I’m happy to have made the list, I know there’s a lot of room for improvement. The competition is fierce, especially with my incredible teammates at Barcelona. It pushes me to work harder and achieve greater success on the field.
**Editor:** Looking ahead, who do you think will win the Women’s Ballon d’Or this year?
**Ewa Pajor:** It’s tough to say, but my teammates Caroline, Salma, and Aitana are definitely strong contenders. They have all had phenomenal seasons, and it would be great to see one of them take the award. Regardless of who wins, the recognition of our team as a whole is what matters most.
**Editor:** Thank you, Ewa. Best of luck this season with FC Barcelona!
**Ewa Pajor:** Thank you! I appreciate it!
