“We hope to resolve the conflict with Algeria as quickly as possible, and through dialogue and diplomacy,” Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alparis said, declaring that “the gas is flowing from Algeria, naturally.”
Last Wednesday, Algeria suspended the Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighborliness with Spain due to differences over the future of Western Sahara.
For her part, the spokeswoman for the European Union’s Foreign Policy Commissioner, Nabila Masrali, expressed her concern regarding Algeria’s suspension of the Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighborliness, and called on her to reconsider this decision and resolve differences through diplomatic channels, stressing that Algeria is an important partner of the European Union at sea. The Mediterranean is a major factor in regional stability.
