We have unraveled the mystery of real and false CPF accounts

Employees and job seekers had until June 2021 to transfer their hours acquired under DIF (individual training right) to the new personal training account (CPF) system. Except that, as soon as the creation of the CPF was announced, crooks of all kinds saw it as a great opportunity to play Marco Mouly. The government hadn’t even had time to explain how its new baby worked when hordes of grazers were already flooding French people with fraudulent emails and SMS messages. Like many compatriots, no longer knowing which site to turn to, I myself gave up trying to understand, putting the CPF enigma behind me. Now is the time to get to the bottom of this matter.

If the switch between DIF and CPF dates from 2015, it was from 2019 that the interest of browsers sharpened, when your credit in DIF hours was converted into euros. From then on, and until a few months ago, it was almost daily that I received SMS or e-mails from the so-called very official organization which manages the CPF. I was encouraged to finalize my account on a site full of spelling mistakes, I was directed towards naturopath training for dwarf rabbits, I was promised to pay part of my rights in cash… In short, everything and above all anything.

Real organizations with illegal practices

According to the Ministry of Labor, these attractive offers should alert you: “ offering gifts, such as a tablet, computer, telephone, in exchange for registering for a training offer or recovering a portion of the balance in cash, are contrary to the spirit of this right and are illegal. » And this, even if they are real training organizations registered in the CPF catalogue. If the latter has since been purified, in 2022, 150 organizations offering this type of gratification to lure the customer have simply been excluded. The Ministry of Labor also insists on the fact that any communication around the CPF by “calls, SMS, emails, ads on Facebook or TikTok” is phishing and should not be followed up.

Real or fake training organizations, the rule is to give up if they contact you directly, even if they refer you to the so-called official CPF website. Keep in mind that it may still be a copy. The best thing is to do the research yourself. Today, the first occurrence that comes up when you type “CPF” into your search engine is often the correct one in “https” and “.gouv.fr”.

Beware of leaked data from mutual insurance companies

So click serenely on the link and quickly create your account if you don’t already have one. For what ? Remember that a few days ago, two organizations managing the third-party payment of many mutual insurance companies suffered a massive data leak: the marital status, date of birth and Social Security number of 33 million French people were hoovered up by hackers and are now for sale on the darkweb. You do not need any further information to create a CPF account. According to the Ministry of Labor, the main risk in the event of a scam is to find yourself unknowingly registered for one or more training courses, imaginary or not, with the consequence of seeing your rights balance plummet. The parades are binding beyond the legal eleven days to cancel the online registration. After the deadline, you will have to lodge a complaint directly with the organization by registered letter and, if there is no response, file a complaint.

Our file We have solved the mystery

If you have the right site, your account is set up, you haven’t been hacked, a world of potential new skills is yours. In your search for training, the Ministry of Labor recommends going through the official CPF portal from which you have “access to the catalog of eligible professional training”. If since January 1, 2024, all land licenses are eligible for the CPF, including the motorcycle license, know that it also works for an airplane or helicopter pilot’s license. Learning a language under hypnosis is also covered, but move on if you are offered marregarding training.
