The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization (MATD) intends to send, from August 16, a mission to the headquarters of political parties. The purpose of this mission is, among other things, to ensure that the activities and functioning of political parties comply with the legal texts in force in Guinea. This mission is already raising questions among some observers of Guinean political life. But, for Abdoulaye Kourouma, the president of the RRD (Rally for Renaissance and Development), this mission is welcome.
In an interview with Guineematin.com this Thursday, August 11, 2022, this political leader hoped that this mission might clarify the situation of political parties in Guinea. He assures that many “leaders” have their parties in the bag. And, they are only visible when political parties are invited to official meetings.
“At the level of our party (RRD), personally, we welcomed this statement with open arms. We are even going to send them a note to tell them that we are ready to receive the mission. What is normal, beyond what people can analyze, it is necessary today to decant this history of political parties. Because you have individuals who walk around with papers, a so-called approval, but they have no seat, no bank account, they have never participated in an election, they do not hold extraordinary meetings, nor assemblies. And, they call themselves political parties. When there is an invitation or a summons from political parties, you will see that the room is filled with people… There are a lot of people who call themselves political leaders, but even you journalists don’t know them. So, I welcome this MATD decision with open arms. It’s never too late to settle. So we are ready to cooperate with the mission and we will be ready to give whatever information the mission asks for. I believe this is not the first mission. At the time of Alpha Condé, a mission had gone out on behalf of the Ministry of Territorial Administration to visit the headquarters of political parties. This mission had requested, among other things, the minutes of the political parties, their account numbers. And, it was a very good thing for us, even if this mission was limited only to the inspection”, indicated Abdoulaye Kourouma.
