US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the US “has seen no evidence that Russia is withdrawing its forces from the Ukrainian border”.
Speaking to Good Morning America, Blinken added, “Unfortunately, there is a difference between what Russia says and what it does. What we are seeing is not a meaningful retreat,” he said, adding: “On the contrary, we continue to see the forces, especially the forces that will be at the forefront of any renewed aggression carried out once morest Ukraine.. These forces are present and gathering on the border.”
Blinken reiterated that “the United States believes that Russia can invade Ukraine at any moment, including this week,” adding: “We said that within a period of time the invasion might be carried out at any time… President (Russian Vladimir) Putin.” Find the ability to act on a very short notice. He might pull the trigger today, tomorrow, or even next week.”
Blinken stressed that the United States is still committed to trying to follow the diplomatic method, considering that “the ball is in Russia’s court.”
