The General Election COMMISSION (KPU) responded to a letter sent by the Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) regarding the use of the Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap).
KPU Commissioner Idham Holik explained that there was no intention to postpone the recapitulation, but only to prepare the recapitulation process at the sub-district level.
Idham emphasized that Sirekap is not a determinant but only a tool to publish the results of the 2024 election votes.
“The Election Law states that the official results of the vote count are based on the results of the recapitulation carried out in stages which is currently underway,” said Idham, Sunday (17/3).
Idham said that Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections has clearly regulated that the vote counting results refer to a tiered manual recapitulation process, starting from the TPS level to the Indonesian KPU.
The regulations state a maximum time limit of 35 days for determining election results.

Idham explained that the KPU has set the final deadline for the recapitulation as March 20 2024. Currently the recapitulation process is still ongoing and is in the national recapitulation period for the 2024 Election.
Idham added that the manual recapitulation process was tiered starting from the PPK level, district/city KPU, provincial KPU, to the Republic of Indonesia KPU which was broadcast via live broadcast.
“Let the Indonesian people watch the recapitulation in stages starting from the PPK level to the Indonesian KPU,” he said. (Z-6)
