“We did our calculations, it’s scary”: Belgians hard hit by the crazy spike in the price of petrol and diesel (TESTIMONIES)

Since the end of the confinement linked to the covid pandemic which affected the whole world from February 2020, fuel prices have experienced a frenetic rise.

From a maximum of €1.229 at the pump for a liter of diesel at the end of April 2020, we have now risen to €2.084. Same thing for gasoline: unleaded 98 went from €1.221 per liter in March 2020 to €1.977 on Monday. So much so that today, no one dares to suggest the rates that might be applied in the coming months. Without federal intervention to cap prices, they will continue to soar. This Tuesday, gasoline will follow diesel by exceeding, for the first time also, the bar of two euros.

A rise in prices that has a severe impact on those whose job is the road. Coach operators, truck drivers, taxi drivers, home nurses, driving school instructors, delivery people, salespeople, electricians… who have no choice but to suffer this frenetic increase in price. And which, for many, do not have the possibility or the desire to pass it on to their customers and patients. Testimonials.
