Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video message on social media, following the start of the operation – as the Israelis describe it – in Rafah, claiming that Hamas’ latest proposal for a ceasefire agreement “was aimed at sabotaging the entry of our forces in Rafa”.
“But that didn’t happen,” the Israeli prime minister continues to say in the same video, adding that “the operation in Rafah is intended to bring back the hostages and eliminate Hamas. We have already proven in the previous hostage release that military pressure on Hamas is a condition for the return of the hostages.”
