Iran threatens an “unimaginable” response against Israel after the latest attack by the Jewish state last Saturday night and in Tel Aviv the level of attention is “maximum”. According to military sources, Tehran is currently faced with a real “dilemma” as its attack and, above all, defense capabilities have been significantly weakened by the latest Israeli offensive action. It was precisely the damage caused in this latest attack that convinced Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to order the retaliation. Meanwhile, his advisor Kamal Kharrazi has made it known that Iran can increase the range of its ballistic missiles, also evoking a possible change in Tehran’s nuclear doctrine. “We have the necessary capacity to produce nuclear weapons – he declared – the only obstacle is the ‘fatwa’ of our leader which banned their production”. While awaiting a possible Iranian attack in Lebanon, hopes for a ceasefire seem to have already ended as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – according to what the president of the Lebanese parliament, Nabih Berry, has said – has rejected the road map agreed upon by Beirut with the American envoy Amos Hochstein.
On Friday alone at least 24 people died in the north-east of the country following Israeli attacks. The situation also remains critical in Gaza and in particular in the north of the Strip where, as reported by the UN, conditions are “apocalyptic” with the population “at imminent risk of death due to disease, famine and violence”. The WHO has announced that the anti-polio vaccination campaign will resume in the area tomorrow after the mandatory suspension due to Israeli bombing in the area. Yet another appeal for a stop to hostilities came from Pope Francis. “Innocents suffer in war”, said the Pontiff during the Angelus, referring to “the 153 women and children massacred in recent days in Gaza”.

Iranian public opinion of Israel
**Interview on Recent Escalations in Israel-Iran Tensions**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today. We’ve seen another escalation in the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, especially with recent attacks resulting in injuries. Could you provide your insights on the current situation?
**Guest Expert (Middle East Analyst):** Thank you for having me. Indeed, the tensions have reached a critical point. Just recently, an attack on central Israel injured 11 people, and in response, Iranian leadership has issued threats of an “unimaginable” retaliation. This cycle of aggression tends to escalate quickly, raising concerns about wider regional implications.
**Interviewer:** Iran has already launched two direct attacks against Israel this year. Given the current geopolitical landscape, how do you think Iran’s capabilities might be affected?
**Guest Expert:** That’s a crucial point. Reports suggest that Iran is experiencing a significant dilemma. Its offensive and defensive capabilities may have been degraded by prior Israeli airstrikes. The combination of weakened resources and a vocal commitment to retaliate creates a unique situation where Tehran must carefully consider its next steps to avoid further destabilization.
**Interviewer:** With these heightened tensions, what can we expect in the short term? Are we likely to see additional attacks, or could diplomatic channels come into play?
**Guest Expert:** It’s hard to say definitively. The stakes are incredibly high right now. On one hand, we may see further military engagements, as both sides appear to be locked in a cycle of retaliation. However, on the other hand, diplomatic efforts can sometimes emerge in these situations, especially if there is significant international pressure to de-escalate. The next few days will be critical in determining the direction of this conflict.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for your insights. As always, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this evolving situation.
**Guest Expert:** Thank you for having me; it’s my pleasure to provide clarity on such a complex issue.
