The regional academies of education and training have begun summoning professors suspended from work by the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, to appear before the Disciplinary Council to decide on their files on April 29.
According to what was reported by media sources, the arrested professors received summonses in order to arrange the necessary penalties once morest them by the Ministry, as notified by the educational unions.
This measure coincided with the national strike launched by many men and women in education, yesterday, Monday, April 22, to demand the return of the detainees to their workplaces and an end to the tension that the sector has been witnessing for months.
This comes at a time when the five educational unions have previously confirmed that they are committed to eliminating the option of the disciplinary council and returning professors to their workplaces “unconditionally,” considering this approach “discriminatory” once morest professors, and saying that it “disrupts channels of dialogue.”
In response to this issue, the National University of Education (FNE) issued a statement in which it expressed its categorical rejection of referring those arrested to disciplinary councils, because they exercised their legitimate right to strike and protest, calling on employee representatives to coordinate and unify the position rejecting the legalization of any punishment once morest women and men in education.
The union described the arrests and penalties that affected more than 545 professors as “a counter-battle waged by the ministry once morest the outcomes of the educational movement,” stressing that the latter “insists on ending the battle of women and men in education in a tragic way, to intimidate them and keep them away from thinking regarding protest, strike, and union work in general,” according to the union’s statement. Statement.
The university called on the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports to “bear full responsibility for the lack of respect for the law in form and substance in this incident,” renewing its call for “the immediate and final closure of the file of the detainees, and for them to be returned to their work without restriction or condition.”
