“We are working on the search”: Claudia Sheinbaum reports on the disappearance of activist Sandra Domínguez

Disappearance of Sandra Domínguez: Claudia Sheinbaum Speaks Out!

Hold onto your hats, ladies and gents! We’re diving into a tale that’s part mystery, part social justice drama, with a sprinkle of political intrigue. Grab the popcorn!

So, here we are, the morning of October 17, 2023, and Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico City’s very own head honcho, stands before us, ready to shed some light on the troubling disappearance of activist Sandra Domínguez. In a world where Twitter is king and the truth is often the first casualty, Sheinbaum decided to clear the air—or at least attempt to—with some carefully chosen words.

Sandra Domínguez, a Mixe community lawyer from Oaxaca, vanished into thin air alongside her partner, Alexander Hernández, on October 4. Now, it’s been 13 days of radio silence, and one can only imagine how her loved ones must be feeling—lost in a fog of uncertainty while the clock ticks ominously. What’s worse? The couple was last seen right near María Lombardo de Caso, a town that sounds familiar because, well, it’s any small town drama playing out on a larger scale.

“The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the State Prosecutor’s Office and all the forces required to find her are working on the search,” Sheinbaum emphasized.

Now, I don’t know about you, but when the heads of state are calling for “all hands on deck,” it’s like a dinner invitation to a BBQ where the meat’s gone missing! Everyone’s in a frenzy. The search for Sandra is led by the Secretariat of Citizen Security (because what is summer without a few hot affairs, am I right?) and the State Prosecutor’s Office. Spoiler alert: Quite a few people are sweating bullets due to this increasing drama. And what have they found so far? A mystery vehicle near Playa Vicente, and, hold onto your phones, they’ve tracked the couple’s devices in the vicinity. The plot thickens!

But here’s where it gets even juicier—Sandra Domínguez was no ordinary activist. She was raising alarms about a “+”18 chat involving some rather shady characters, including politicians who probably thought they could operate with impunity. Picture it: a group chat called “Sierra XXX” where the fun involved not just banter but discussions of allegations that would make your grandma clutch her pearls. And guess what? Sandra had the audacity to call them out! 140 politicians playing the game of ‘who can be the sleaziest’ while Sandra decided to play ‘who can be the brave one.’

Now, a reasonable person might ask: is there a connection between Sandra’s disappearance and her public denunciations? A chat that includes sexual images of women? Well, that’s a serious question—and let’s just say the breadcrumbs lead to a very troubling conclusion. Journalistic speculation can be as intense as a thriller movie, where the victim is an activist, and the potential villains might just be sipping drinks at the local gala.

The kicker? Sheinbaum’s administration is rolling up their sleeves to find the couple. But, is this government truly committed to getting to the bottom of this? Let’s hope that “getting to the bottom” doesn’t mean digging up only a pile of excuses! Meanwhile, the social media storm brews as citizens share concerns about unsafe conditions and the dark underbelly of corruption that could be lurking just beneath the surface.

In conclusion, while Sheinbaum may be stepping up to the plate, let’s keep our eyes peeled. The disappearance of Sandra Domínguez is not just another headline; it’s reflective of larger societal issues. So, here’s to hoping someone finds their bravery alongside Sandra and Alexander—and that they make it home safe and sound.

Keep those fingers crossed, because in a world where justice isn’t always the main course, sometimes we have to order it a la carte. Until next time!

As a matter of injustice against the disappearance of the activist of the Mixe community (Oaxaca), Sandra Domínguez, during today’s morning conference, Claudia Sheinbaum, clarified certain information that is available about the case, this in accordance with the country’s authorities.

13 days after her disappearance, Sandra Domínguez was last seen on October 4, the activist was accompanied by her romantic partner identified as Alexander Hernández, so far both are without any trace since their last registration in the town by María Lombardo de Caso, in Oaxaca.

Due to this unfortunate situation, relatives close to the couple and groups have required the collaboration of the administration to find their whereabouts, since it is presumed that this was involved after the complaint of a +18 chat that Domínguez exposed.

During the conference on October 17, the question arose among journalists regarding the actions that have been launched after the abrupt disappearance of the activist. Given this, this is what the president expressed in reference to the case.

In his usual speech, Sheinbaum Pardo commented that the government of the Republic is working on the case, in addition to the participation of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and the State Prosecutor’s Office to expedite the search for Domínguez and her husband.

“The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the State Prosecutor’s Office and all the forces required to find her are working on the search,” he emphasized.

So far, the only information we have regarding the location of the young couple is that the vehicle in which they were traveling was found in the vicinity of Playa Vicente, in the State of Veracruz. This information was issued on December 10. October by the Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office.

In addition, the discovery of their cell phones that reported activity in the entity was announced, which encouraged theories that the marriage could have been intercepted by criminal groups operating in the region.

Because of this, there has been speculation among citizens that this situation could have arisen due to the complaint filed by the activist, who discovered a +18 chat that involved senior managers and politicians in the government of Oaxaca.

At 38 years old, the human rights defender raised her voice and publicly denounced a conversation group, where at least 140 well-known personalities in Mexican politics participated, who were accused of participating in acts of gender violence and femicides. In the group chat, sexual images of women from the mountains of Oaxaca were circulating, for which she had already been threatened.

On the ‘X’ platform, the lawyer also exposed through a clip the participation of the head of the Coordination of Peace Delegates, Donato Vargas Jiménez, as one of the members of the officials’ chat where they display sexual content.

Likewise, on previous occasions, Sandra Domínguez had already denounced the creation of the group titled “Sierra XXX”, which involved a Morena candidate for the local Chamber of Deputies, in 2020. Likewise, in 2023, the activist exposed another similar chat called “Mega peda”, on both occasions, the name of Vargas Jiménez appeared in the investigation.
