Vienna (OTS) – On June 15, the WIR SIND WIEN.FESTIVAL offers a special highlight: Tom Neuwirth aka. Conchita Wurst will set a clear example for an open, equal society and diversity at Queer & Fresh in the Vogelweidpark in the 15th district. With Sakura, Anthea and Farce, Conchita brings three innovative, young artists onto the stage, who prepare the audience for the upcoming Pride weekend. A performance by Conchita herself with a band is a bonus.
The Vogelweidpark in Vienna will once once more be the central location of the tomorrow WE ARE VIENNA.FESTIVALS. It starts at 6 p.m. There are a few highlights this evening. One of the most important music and entertainment greats of the last decade is on stage: Conchita Wurst. As is so often the case, the focus is not just on itself, but on the concerns of the community: freedom and equality.
Conchita Wurst is a singer, entertainer, song contest winner and figurehead of the LGBTI movement. The evening she hosted in the Vogelweidpark offers a more than worthy preparation for the upcoming Pride weekend. “Conchita Wurst stands for important concerns: for acceptance, for respect and for solidarity. These are parameters that we also want to convey with the concept of our festival. One Vienna and one society for everyone. We are looking forward to the event with Conchita and to many visitors.”says Monika Erb, Managing Director of BASiS.KULTUR.WiEN. Before the grand finale, the performance with his own band, Tom Neuwirth also brings three young and up-and-coming musicians to the 15th district: Farce, Anthea and Sakura.
Farce is Viennese by choice and produces multi-faceted and sophisticated pop. Melancholy and happiness come in the same breath. It’s not mainstream. The 25-year-old, who comes from the Black Forest and whose parents are both musicians, learned classical guitar and not only produces music, she is also happy to pass on her knowledge. In workshops, she shares her experience with young women who have a similar plan to hers: making sound that people should hear.
Anthea is the second young artist on the WE ARE VIENNA-Stage. She is considered a hyperpop queen and actually comes from the world of fine arts. Transdisciplinarity and the connecting factor are also pillars of their concept. She likes to see herself as the art director of her projects. In terms of genre, Anthea locates herself between art pop, noise and hardcore.
The third in the bunch Sakura, is a singer/songwriter and will start at 6 p.m. in the Vogelweidpark. She is influenced by indie, folk and rock. Sakura has not only experienced a lot musically. The young musician came to Vienna via Hong Kong and London. This movement is also reflected in their music. Excitement and dynamics are guaranteed.
Queer & Fresh hosted by Conchita Wurst begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. As with all WIR SIND WIEN events, admission is free.
