If life has resumed its (almost) normal course for a few weeks, health and political authorities are constantly reminding us that the coronavirus epidemic is not over. Proof of this is that contaminations and hospitalizations have started to rise once more in recent weeks.
Fortunately, the increase in contamination is already slowing down and we should only be dealing with a wavelet this spring. Nevertheless, in an interview with Morgen, the Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke insisted on recalling that the vaccination recall campaign was not advancing enough. “We are too tender with the results of this campaign. They are not good, sorry,” he said.
After an encouraging start, the campaign has indeed slowed down since the end of health measures and, inevitably, of the Covid Safe Ticket: “But we must not forget that there is still this virus circulating. In some hospitals, it becomes complicated. It would be nice if people realized that. This is no reason to go back to code orange tomorrow, but you have to be careful. And if the situation deteriorates sharply, code orange would come back on the table, ”he recalls.
The Minister of Health regrets the pause of the Covid Safe Ticket, which was, as we can see now, clearly a reason to push people to get vaccinated. “Only 61% of the population has had their booster dose, that’s regarding 75% of adults. It is objectively too little”.
