“We are still here in the struggle.” Pele’s daughter publishes a picture with her father in the hospital, and his health problems are exacerbating | Football

The daughter of Brazilian football legend Pele published a picture of her with her father, embracing him, while he was sitting on his hospital bed in Sao Paulo, and attached the picture – which she published on her Instagram account – with the phrase “another night together.”

Kelly Christina Nascimento appeared in the photo, embracing her 82-year-old father, who only showed one side of his face in the photo.

The former Brazilian star has been in hospital since late November due to his suffering from worsening cancer, in addition to kidney and heart problems.

“Still here, in struggle and in faith, one more night together,” Kelly Christina wrote, captioning the photo.

For its part, the Albert Einstein Hospital announced – last Wednesday – that Pele’s colon cancer had “worse” and that the 3-time World Cup winner needed “more comprehensive care, to treat kidney and heart failure.”

Minutes before that, his daughters, Christina and Flavia, announced – through their accounts on the Instagram platform – that their father would spend Christmas and New Year’s in the hospital.

and last sunday, published Cristina also had a photo of her with her father, Arantes Nascimento (aka Pele), massaging his left foot, while he was watching the World Cup Final in Qatar between France and Argentina on TV.

After the match, Pele congratulated Argentine star Lionel Messi on his “deserved” victory in the World Cup and his leadership of his country’s national team to defeat France on penalties (4-2) following the end of the match in 120 minutes (3-3).

Pele was taken to hospital in Sao Paulo on November 29, due to what his medical team described as a re-evaluation of his chemotherapy treatment that he had been receiving since he underwent surgery to remove a colon tumor in September 2021.

Pele – the scorer of a thousand goals and the star who led Brazil to crown the World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970 – suffered from health problems for years before they worsened in 2017, when he appeared at the 2018 World Cup Russia draw ceremony while he was in a wheelchair, due to his inability to walk before he fell ill. He is undergoing surgery – September 2021 – following it was confirmed that he had colon cancer.
