“Our tripartite alliance is a safe point in today’s Hungarian politics,” said DK leader Ferenc Gyurcsány on Wednesday evening in Miskolc.
The DK, as the leading party in the left-wing alliance with MSZP and Párbeszéd, called for the so-called “spring meeting” there. The former prime minister gave his leftists credit for maintaining their view of the world “consistently” and for everyone knowing today what they will represent in one, two or three years.
The fallacy of Fidesz
The European and local elections on June 9th are about confronting the government with the fact that it does not have the country behind it. Fidesz derived this fallacy from the results of the national consultations; These surveys do not even meet with the approval of the majority – “the vast majority do not even react to the propaganda”. Meanwhile, the situation in the country is deteriorating in all areas, from healthcare to education to corruption. The highest inflation in all of Europe even caused real wages to fall. “And this is by no means a result of the Ukraine war or sanctions, it is solely the result of the policies of the Orbán government.”
Force bad government out of office
Gyurcsány warned that an opposition that does not strive to force a bad government out of office today rather than tomorrow is not fulfilling its tasks. Referring to the opposition, which remains divided in many places – including Miskolc – the DK chairman explained: “The European democrats show their true strength when they are together.”
