It should be remembered that this Tuesday, after eight rounds of voting, no candidate managed to gather the 78 supporters needed to replace Loncon on the Convention Board.
Cristina Dorador, from the Independent Movement of the North, was the one who was closest (72). However, after his multiple attempts, he decided to depose his candidacy. Other names that also gathered a respectable amount of support were Patricio Fernández, Patricia Politzer, Eric Chinga and Bárbara Rebolledo, among others.
This situation generated various criticisms. Among them, those of Agustín Squella (INN), who pointed out that “what we saw last night was, in order not to tell stories to the public, a bad example. We saw a bad image of the Convention, of course without wanting to ”.
On the other hand, Luciano Silva (RN) warned that this situation It could be repeated again in the approval of constitutional norms, which require a minimum quorum of 2/3 (104 votes). “If you do not agree here, imagine to build the constitutional norm. Dangerous ”, he pointed out.
Regarding the latter, Elisa Loncon stated that “the 2/3 are not in dispute here, but who continues with the Board of Directors is in dispute. Everything in its place, you do not have to put themes that are not being installed at this time ”.
