“We are not going to eliminate or merge positions at the hospital”asserts Geneviève Darrieussecq, Minister of Health and Access to Care on franceinfo Friday October 4, while the Prime Minister indicated that he wishes “merge public services” et “probably not replace all civil servants” in order to reduce public spending, Thursday evening on France 2.
“Today at the hospital we have a lot of vacant positions, for nurses for example, and we need to recruit”explains Geneviève Darrieussecq, who also insists on the importance of hospital workers who are not caregivers. “A stretcher bearer or a technical agent is extremely useful in a hospital”she emphasizes. The minister indicates that “the digital tool” could, on the other hand, allow certain “administrative services may need fewer staff”.
The Minister of Health and Access to Care assures that there will be “more money than last year” in the National Health Insurance Expenditure Objective (Ondam) without specifying how much. It is therefore not the question of a “lack of money in the health system” which arises, according to the minister, but rather that of a “restructuring” expenses.
