“We are just pawns for the elites”

Nayib Bukele Biden and Maduro

Behind the prisoner exchange carried out by the governments of Joe Biden and Nicolás Maduro, the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, said that these actions only show that the countries of the region are “pawns for the elites.”

Through his Twitter account, the Salvadoran president also criticized that, for the United States, the causes of the people are used at their convenience.

“On this day, my Venezuelan brothers realized that we are just pawns for the global elites. Our causes use them and discard them at their convenience. It doesn’t even depend on what we do or don’t do. Our freedom will only come from ourselves,” he emphasized.

In a second tweet, Bukele referred to the deal between Biden and Maduro with a controversial phrase that generated reactions on the popular social network. “He who forgives the wolf sacrifices the sheep”, he sentenced.

The United States and Venezuela carried out a prisoner exchange on October 1. In this, the seven Americans detained by officials of Nicolás Maduro, by the nephews of Cilia Flores, who were detained for drug trafficking, according to the North American justice, stood out.
