Regarding security measures, he indicated that “I do not have any type of prejudice or atavistic fear of any particular solution. It matters to me that the solutions offered have a background, have support to be able to effectively solve the problem that is intended to be attacked, and that is what we have been working on together with the Ministry of the Interior, the police and also talking regarding it with the Forces. Armed.”
“During the week we are going to make more announcements regarding security, not abstract announcements, but concrete solutions and measures, particularly in certain sectors where there have been critical situations, but there can be no doubt that this is one of our main priorities.” “As a government, we share the indignation of the citizens, and we are not willing to let this become natural,” he said.
Boric recalled that “in 2023 we managed, for the first time in a long time, beyond the specific case of the pandemic, to contain and even slightly reduce the murder numbers.”
“However, it is true that in recent months specifically there has been an increase in homicides and also homicides of high public connotation and that has us busy and worried, and it is not something that we are going to normalize, we are taking very concrete measures, where “We are going to deploy all the force of the State that is necessary to be able to contain these criminals and so that the criminals face Chilean justice accordingly,” added the President.
