In 2000, the average age of the first spouse was 33 years old, that of the second 30.1 years old.
In 2021, the first spouse is, on average, 38.4 years old and the second 35.4 years old. Since the beginning of the 21st century, spouses have therefore taken 5 years. And this movement has accelerated in recent years: in 6 years, since 2013, the newlyweds have aged a year.
This is an average, all marriages combined. Because if we look at first marriages, the average ages of spouses are 34 and 31 years old. For the following marriages, the spouses are older: 48 and 43 years old.
