The disappearance of Kendall Stefany Arbeláez Castrillón has shocked the community of San Rafael, Antioquia. This October 18, a march was called in his memory, where family, friends and citizens will join together to demand answers about his whereabouts. The girl, just 10 years old, disappeared on July 10 along with her grandfather, who was found dead days later under mysterious circumstances.
The anguish over Kendall’s disappearance has grown since her grandfather, Conrado Castrillón, was found dead on the sidewalk of Brasil. With signs of having suffered a blunt blow to the head. Since that day, the search for Kendall has been a priority for her family and the community, but to date, no results have been found.
Kendall’s mother, Yeidy Castrillón, has expressed her despair: “They have been days full of anguish, despair, pain and helplessness. The situation is unfair. A 10-year-old girl should not be experiencing this.”
The march began at 7:00 am in the main park of San Rafael and ended at the San Rafael school, where the girl studies. The educational community, including students and teachers, responded to Yeidy’s call to participate in this mobilization, which seeks not only to remember Kendall, but also to pressure the authorities to continue the search.
Carlos Martínez, school coordinator, has urged the community to join: “It is a march for peace and life. “We all have to be there for Kendall to come home.” Community unity has become essential in this difficult time, reflecting a collective desire for justice.
Kendall disappeared under disturbing circumstances. While on the farm where he lived with his grandfather, they were reported missing. Although the search has involved the Antioquia Police, the Fire Department and community volunteers, progress has been limited. This lack of results has led family and friends to express their frustration, recalling that it has been more than 100 days since Kendall was last seen.
The protests in San Rafael are not new. Since the discovery of the grandfather’s body, the community has come out on several occasions to demand justice. “We want Kendall back!” the protesters cry, a cry that resonates strongly in a municipality that has lived in uncertainty and fear.
Yeidy has appealed to those who may have information: “Any detail, no matter how small, can be of great help. “We are desperate for answers.”
