Today, Thursday, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin expressed his pleasure to meet Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin SalmanHe affirmed the United States’ commitment to its strong partnership with the Kingdom.
“I share Saudi Arabia’s concerns regarding Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region,” Austin said on his Twitter account.
The US Defense Secretary welcomed Saudi Arabia’s constructive efforts to advance the current Yemeni truce, stressing the need to extend the truce.
Earlier on Thursday, Prince Khalid bin Salman announced that he had met the US Secretary of Defense, and reviewed with him the Saudi-US partnership, and aspects of strategic cooperation in the existing and future defense and military fields between the two countries, under the directives of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
He added that he held an expanded session of talks with the Undersecretary of Defense for Policies, Colin Kahl, within the meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Committee between the two ministries of defense.
Prince Khalid bin Salman said: “We discussed events and rapid changes regionally and internationally, and a number of files related to supporting the security and stability of the region and the world, and defending our common interests.”
