Wayanad Literature Festival gets off to a grand start on online platforms; Inauguration with dignitaries

Kochi: The official inauguration of the first Wayanad Literature Festival (WLF) website to be held at Dwaraka near Mananthavadi in the last week of December was held by Kerala Sahitya Akademi president and eminent poet K. Performed by Sachidanandan.

Satchidanandan described the festival coming to Wayanad, the land of pepper and snow, as the literary festival that Wayanad had been waiting for. ‘It is sad that a place so rich in oral literature, especially with life expressed through a great writer like Vatsala Teacher, has not had a good literature festival yet. WLF fills that gap,’ Satchidanandan said while launching the website.

‘The soaring beak is a symbol,’ continued Satchidanandan, referring to the WLF logo. ‘The WLF is able to consistently appear over the sky of Indian and world literature,’ added Satchidanandan.

DLF’s Twitter page was officially launched by Tirunelli’s storyteller P. Vatsala. Wayanad is a very beloved country. The novel ‘Nell’ was the result of the memories that the area gave me. It is very gratifying to have a literature festival coming there. My mind is now following this festival,’ P. Vatsala said.

Wayanad Literature Festival’s Facebook page was launched by Mithun Manuel Thomas, a famous young film director and a native of Wayanad.

Wayanad has never seen a literary festival organized in such a grand manner. My hope is that WLF will become a landmark festival that will put Wayanad on the literary map and history. Let the Wayanad Literature Festival become a festival like the Vallioorkavutsavam, which is taken up by the people of Wayanad,’ said Mithun Manuel, enthusiastically welcoming the arrival of the literature festival in his own land.

WALF’s WhatsApp groups were inaugurated by eminent writer and novelist K.R. Performed by Meera. ‘For the first time in its history, Wayanad is becoming the venue for a big literature festival. Wayanad Literature Festival has the distinction of being organized for the first time in India by a Panchayat Sahitya Festival. All the best for the first season of WLF,’ Meera’s words.

‘Wayanad’s long-time wish is to have W.L. F is made possible. W.A.L is a bridge connecting the hearts of literary lovers inside and outside Wayanad. F,’ Festival Director and Caravan Magazine Executive Editor Dr. Vinod K. Jose says.
