The latest cases of violent crimes have created fear and a feeling of insecurity among citizens in Luanda who are calling for urgent measures to restore public tranquility and order. The situation is even more critical due to the way in which these crimes are being committed, using firearms and other blunt means that, when they do not kill, leave irreparable damage.
The death of sociologist Laurindo Vieira, last week, was one of the most flagrant cases that caused a national commotion judging by the way and place in which the crime was committed, in the Patriota area, municipality of Talatona, in broad daylight, with gunshots of firearm. However, in addition to this case, Luanda residents still remember the incident at the end of December, in which two citizens were shot while leaving a bank, also in the same neighborhood.
The crime occurred in the Adriano Moreira neighborhood, urban district of Hoji-Ya-Henda, inside the victim’s home, when she was alone and sleeping. Still in the same month, members of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) arrested, in Luanda, four men, aged between 18 and 32, on suspicion of having shot dead a 35-year-old citizen inside the city. your residence. In June, a 24-year-old young man, who worked as a mini-bus driver in Cacuaco, was shot dead by an as yet unidentified individual, while traveling from Vila de Cacuaco to the Sequele bypass.
