Wave of violence in Tabasco today; we know this

VILLAHERMOSA.- A wave of violence broke out in Tabasco during this Thursday afternoon.

Local media report violent events in various parts of the state, ranging from the burning of vehicles to armed attacks.

Among the most affected municipalities is the capital city, Villahermosa.

Wave of violence in Tabasco today

Several violent events were reported in Villahermosa and nearby municipalities since 1:00 p.m. this Thursday.

At the moment, the burning of grocery stores and merchandise delivery vehicles in the capital city has been recorded, as well as a blockade of roads with burned cars.

Shootings were reported at several points.

Citizens denounced through social networks that they shot a motorist in the Parrilla road, when coming down from La Lima bridge. The authorities have not confirmed this fact.

The presence of armed men in the area was also reported online.

State Civil Protection confirmed that a convenience store was burned in the Gaviotas Sur colony from Villahermosa. The fire department responded to the incident.

Armed attack against Tabasco police officers

Fernando Vazquezspokesperson for the Government of Tabasco, reported that agents of the State Police They were victims of an attack with gambling weapons during a security operation near Villahermosa.

Two elements suffered minor injuries.

“State Police were attacked with bullet wounds while guarding a secured property in the vicinity of Villa Parrilla, Centro,” the spokesperson indicated.

As a result of the armed attack, “an immediate operation was mounted and authority actions continue to provide peace and security to the population.”

Some of the confirmed attacks in Villahermosa and surrounding areas are:

  • A fire caused in the parking lot of a haberdashery in the Adolfo Ruiz Cortines Avenue.
  • Burning of a cargo vehicle on the highway that connects Villahermosa with Talkingat the height of the La Huasteca ranch.
  • The burning of a truck from a parcel delivery company at kilometer 19 of the same highway.
  • Unidentified subjects set fire to a gas station in the Tamulté colony of the Barracks. Workers managed to control the fire before it spread.
  • A civilian van set on fire outside a Oxxo.

The state government spokesperson indicated that an operation of state and federal forces is being deployed.

Violence was controlled by Armed Forces
