Security forces have been placed on high alert in response to an increase in terror attacks in Israel and in shootings at Israeli forces in the West Bank. The last shooting attack on Dizengoff Street was in 2016, when two people were killed and several wounded at a local bar.

Tension and concern have taken over the streets, and although normality is being tried to be imposed (there are no shops or institutions closed), it is also present fear and caution, given the high possibility of more attacks -encouraged by terrorist groups such as Hamas, the Islamic State and the Islamic Jihad-, with the latent memory of the Second Intifada, which occurred between 2000 and 2005 and, the even more recent one, of the clashes between Arab and Jewish extremists last May.

Although Hamas, ISIS and Islamic Jihad came out to celebrate the attacks that began last month, political representatives from different sectors condemned the events. The president of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Mahmoud Abbas, assured that “killing Palestinian and Israeli civilians will only lead to a deterioration of the situation before Ramadan” and called for “remain calm”.
