Waterloo Center and Galleries Sale: A Weekend of Shopping, Entertainment, and More!

2023-08-23 17:16:00

The traditional Center and Galleries sale will take place on Friday August 25, Saturday August 26 and Sunday August 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Shopping will obviously be in the spotlight during these three days, but the merchants will not be the only ones to celebrate. They will be joined, Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., by street vendors who will multiply the offer. A portion of the chaussée de Bruxelles will be pedestrianized, between the drève Richelle and the rue de la Station (near the Saint-Joseph church), but also the streets perpendicular to the latter.

For children, from Friday afternoon, a carousel, duck fishing, trampolines… will be set up in the car park located behind the church in the centre. They will stay there all weekend.

On Sunday, second-hand goods dealers will set up shop at 9 a.m. in the Jules Descampe park, which means that traffic will be prohibited for vehicles on the chaussée de Bruxelles between the church in the center and the Drève Richelle, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Three free shows

As part of the Place aux artistes operation, three shows – free but accessible by reservation – will be offered in Descampe Park:

– Friday, 7 p.m., jazzy evening with a concert by the En Fanfare ensemble, with local music and rhythms from New Orleans, all at aperitif time;

– Saturday, 3 p.m., Les Chèvres à Pull, a company on board the Caravane des artistes, will present Ten Hours at Any Time, humorous and interactive songs intended for families and children from 2 and a half years old; will follow, at 6.30 p.m., a performance of Notre-Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo, in a wacky reinterpretation by the talented Éric De Staercke, playing sometimes a facetious speaker, sometimes Quasimodo or Esmeralda;

– Finally, because in Waterloo, even the sale breathes the battle of 1815, re-enactors from the Napoleonic period will circulate in the centre. They will settle down, with their horses, in front of the Wellington Museum, in period outfits to recreate the atmosphere of the imperial hospital and the old Bodenghien inn. The Parisian association Carnet de Bals will offer dances from the First Empire, and musicians from the Imperial Guard of Waterloo will wander around. Other musicians like those of the Happy Few Band, Picalilli Project, and Collegian’s Band will also animate the streets and the park.

Shows by reservation no later than the day before, by e-mail to sandrine.faelen@waterloo.be
