It was with some amazement and annoyance that I read the article “Mist shower now cools Hanuschplatz” (SN local section, June 1). Apparently, word hasn’t gotten around to the Deputy Mayor’s wife that water vapor is a much greater climate heater than CO2. It is therefore complete nonsense to cool people down locally with water spray systems and thus to accelerate global warming.
From what I hear, the Viennese are now doing it too. These devices are expensive, use electricity and waste water.
There is a much better system that costs nothing, is more effective, improves the climate and is more beautiful. The plant is called “Tree”. What regarding the Greens – don’t they notice anything? For the weekly vocal environmental protesters, I would recommend doing something instead of blasting around at an unacceptable volume and harassing people.
