The inhabitants of the commune of Gouvy (province of Luxembourg) have been subject for a week to measures aimed at limiting water consumption, despite the heavy rainfall in July. Restrictions imposed by the municipal authorities in anticipation of possible periods of drought to come, indicates the alderman of Works, Michel Marenne.
These cost-saving measures lead to fairly standard waivers:
watering courtyards, lawns, gardens, equestrian trails and vehicle maneuvering areas cleaning terraces, sidewalks, paths, streets and gutters filling swimming pools other than facilities of collective interest watering buildings, except where necessary is carried out as part of work making this operation essential the cleaning of vehicles in general, except if it is carried out by a professional vehicle cleaning company the storage and filling of tanks the watering of sports grounds…
“What guides us are the water production curves. The situation is not catastrophic but we see that there are these downward curves. It is not because it has rained a lot that production has increased or stabilized. On the contrary, the indicators point the other way. The rains of the last few weeks have run off and have not really raised the level of the water tables. We announce the return of heat from August 10-15, without knowing how September and October will be. It is therefore a way of anticipating“, specifies the alderman who also mentions the water leaks on the network.
“We are at 40% of leaks on a global production. We have 160 km of pipes to replace. It’s a big job that we will start soon“, term-t-il.
