A lunar eclipse will be visible in total phase from the entire Island, as well as from all of Latin America and the eastern part of North America. The most intense phase of the eclipse begins at 11:29 p.m. on Sunday, being the maximum at 12:11 a.m., and culminating at 12:53 a.m. on Monday morning..
Look at the eclipse:
The event is due to the fact that the Sun, the Earth and the Moon will be aligned, causing our planet to block the sunlight that illuminates the Moon. Our natural satellite will show a reddish-orange color, due to light refracting around the edge of the Earth, dimly and colorfully illuminating the Moon. While the shadow caused by the Earth will also cause the Moon to appear remarkably dim.
“This will allow the Moon to look very striking and curious among the stars of the constellations of Libra and Scorpio”, highlighted the Caribbean Astronomy Society (SAC).
