Watch the live stream: Who will win the battle for North Jutland

AaB held a promotion party, Menno van Dam had his first match as head coach for the club, and Jakob Ahlmann had a touching farewell after a great career.

As if that wasn’t enough, Younez Bakiz also scored the best goal of the season at Aalborg Portland Park, when AaB and Vendsyssel last played together.

It was in the two teams’ last match in the NordicBet League in the 2023/2024 season, where AaB won 4-1 against an injury-stricken Vendsyssel team. Thus, AaB ended up picking up 10 out of 12 possible points against the people of Wendel.

It will be far from the same backdrop when the two teams use the international break to play the battle for North Jutland.

It’s Wednesday at 12 noon on the new artificial grass pitch at AaB’s facility, and we’re live streaming here on nordjyske.dk the meeting between the local rivals.

Coach firing and victory drought

A lot has happened in the two clubs since the meeting at the beginning of June. With many new acquisitions, AaB has played a more than acceptable autumn in the Super League. With two rounds to go before the winter break, Holder is six points above the relegation zone.

Vendsyssel FF has disappointed badly this autumn. It cost head coach Bo Zinck his job. He has been replaced by Mads Christensen, and the team, which before the start of the season was mentioned as an outsider in the battle for promotion, is now in the relegation battle. Vendsyssel have not won in seven league games in a row.

AaB has picked up just one win in the last six games. It was in the cup tournament against Esbjerg. The last three matches in the Super League have all ended in a draw.
