The 5th edition of the Famenne-Ardenne Classic (1.1) will take place this Sunday October 1st. The Ardennes semi-classic marks, following the Franco-Belgian Circuit (September 28) and before Binche-Chimay-Binche (October 3), the end of the professional season in Wallonia and can be followed live video from 2:30 p.m.
The Famenne Ardenne Classic 2023 will depart as is tradition from the Wex de Marche-en-Famenne at 12:05 p.m. The route will take the runners on a first loop of 116 kilometers through the province of Luxembourg, via, in particular, Nassogne, Nadrin and La Roche-en-Ardenne. It will then join the local 24-kilometer circuit around Marche-en-Famenne, a loop to be completed three times and spiced up by the Côte de Waha, the Côte de Roy and the faux-flat de Marloie. The finish is scheduled at Avenue de la Toison d’Or in Marche-en-Famenne around 4:40 p.m. following 188 kilometers of racing.
Twenty-two teams, including eight from the WorldTour, are expected at the start: Alpecin-Deceuninck, Intermaché-Circus-Wanty, UAE Team Emirates, Soudal Quick-Step, AG2R-Citroën, Cofidis, Arkéa-Samsic and Jumbo-Visma, while the Lotto Dstny training (ProTeam) will also be present with Arnaud De Lie.
The 2022 edition of the Famenne-Ardenne Classic saw the victory of the Frenchman Axel Zingle in front Amaury Capiot et Oliver Naesen.
