WATCH: “It’s difficult to play with Slafkovsky” – Joël Bouchard

Former Laval Rocket head coach Joël Bouchard analyzed certain points to improve in Juraj Slafkovsky’s game if he hopes to break into the Montreal Canadiens roster.

According to the hockey man, the most recent first choice of the Habs must be better in his decision-making as well as in his reading of the game.

“He is a young man who thinks a lot. He is not physically involved and it becomes difficult for his teammates to play with him,” explained Bouchard, who has rubbed shoulders with many talented hopefuls over the past 15 years in various roles within the American Hockey League. (AHL) and at the level of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (LHJMQ).

“One thing is certain, I find him hesitant on the ice. Slafkovsky anticipates games too much. He is a young player who needs a period of adaptation.

“I would like him to practice a much more direct style of play and the good things will come in his case,” concluded Bouchard, author of 364 games in the Bettman circuit.
