In an interview with CNN anchor Becky Anderson, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Adel Al-Jubeir, said that “selling defensive weapons to Saudi Arabia serves the interests of the United States, the interests of Saudi Arabia, and the interests of security and stability in the Middle East,” in response to his question regarding the danger surrounding claims from Some members of Congress have accepted a freeze on arms sales to the kingdom.

Al-Jubeir stressed that “the Kingdom and the United States have enjoyed a very strong relationship for eight decades. They have been very close partners in combating extremism and terrorism, maintaining stability and security, and in defending the region, and they have been very close allies in economic, trade and investment terms.”

“We look forward to continuing this relationship over the next eight decades,” he added.
