What route will Warsaw’s waste travel to produce energy for several thousand households? The answers are provided by ZUSOK, i.e. the waste processing installation at ul. Zabraniecka. Further facilities of the plant are going up, and in the coming weeks works will be completed on the flyover, which will be used by MPO vehicles to transport the collected waste.

Works on the extension and modernization of the Municipal Solid Waste Treatment Plant (ZUSOK) in Targówek are progressing. The next stage of work on the route that Warsaw’s mixed waste will cover from the moment of its delivery to ul. Zabraniecka, up to thermal transformation and generation of heat and electricity for the inhabitants of the capital.

In the second year of expansion and modernization of ZUSOK, a path is created for waste in buildings equipped with new installations and state-of-the-art solutions. Finishing construction works are in progress, and we have also started technological works – informs Henryk Mleczko, construction manager.

Waste road in ZUSOK

Garbage trucks of the Municipal Cleaning Company will transport waste over a 120-metre-long flyover. The route is currently under construction. The surface will be laid in the coming weeks.

After reaching the unloading hall, MPO vehicles will drop waste through special hatches into the so-called bunker. From there, garbage will be loaded with grabs to the chutes of the new K2 and K3 lines. Then they will be thermally processed. The resulting heat and electricity will meet the needs of several thousand Warsaw households.

Eco investment

The expansion and modernization of ZUSOK is a key investment for the Warsaw waste market. A modern, automatic sorting plant for 30,000 will be built here. tonnes of waste from selective collection. Waste that cannot be recycled will be recycled. This will be accompanied by the production of heat and electricity, which will supply up to several thousand Warsaw households. The facility will be able to process over 300 tons of waste, more than seven times more than at present. Completion of the investment is planned for 2024.
