Wasim Akram has become the brand ambassador for the betting app (gambling application). Advertising of online betting is banned in Pakistan, however Wasim Akram shot a video as a brand ambassador for the promotion of this betting app and shared it on his social media accounts.
He captioned the video, “I have had many unforgettable moments in cricket but the real success is creating something that lasts. Come join me in Baji and be a part of this journey.”
The promotional videos of the betting app “BAJI” feature several well-known celebrities including pornographic actress Mia Khalifa, former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen and former Argentine footballer Gabriel Batistuta.
It may be noted that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reiterated strict action against surrogate companies associated with betting houses and urged stakeholders to stop promoting these apps through advertisements during live sports coverage.
According to media reports, famous batsmen like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have also been offered lakhs of rupees by illegal betting companies, which they turned down.

It should be remembered that last year the caretaker government banned more than 150 illegal surrogate betting companies, but now these companies are active again in Pakistan.

The Federal Ministry of Information and Broadcasting through a letter informed the public and related institutions about the companies operating in Pakistan under new names in betting and instructed that all the agreements made with these companies should be cancelled.
