The United States Ambassador to Gabon, Vernelle Trim Fitzpatrick, went Tuesday to the office of the President of the Transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma to reaffirm the support of the American administration in the success of the current transition in Gabon.
« The support offered as part of the Transition demonstrates the friendship between our nations and our common desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation », Wrote the president of the Gabonese Transition on his X account.
“Our discussions focused on strengthening relations between Gabon and the United States, with an emphasis on the economy, diplomacy and trade,” he added.

During a recent press conference in the premises of the American diplomatic representation in Libreville, Vernelle Trim Fitzpatrick explained that the sanctions imposed on Gabon following the coup d’état of August 30 fall under American law which systematically sanctions any taking of power by means other than elections.
Despite these sanctions, Washington has not broken off cooperation with Gabon, which remains excluded from AGOA, the law on Growth and Economic Opportunities in Africa.
