The United States on Thursday expressed “increasing concern” over the fighting in northern Ethiopia, appealing to the warring parties to maintain their commitment to peace talks to end the nearly two-year war.
“We are increasingly concerned by the increased military activity in northern Ethiopia. We strongly condemn the resumption of hostilities,” State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters.
“These actions are not in line with the stated desire of both the Ethiopian government and the authorities of the rebellious region of Tigray for peace talks,” he added.
