Washington hails the King’s leadership in supporting the Palestinians

The United States praised, on Friday, the “appreciated” role of Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in supporting the Palestinian people and in advancing the two-state solution and peace in the Middle East.

“Morocco has a unique relationship with the Palestinians, of course HM King Mohammed VI is the chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, which comes from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and we appreciate Morocco’s role in helping and l assistance to the Palestinian people and in support of the two-state solution”, said US State Department spokesman Ned Price.

Referring to the resumption of relations between Morocco and Israel, Price described the Kingdom as “leader”noting that the ties between the two countries have created “real benefits” and of “new opportunities for peace and prosperity”.

“We will continue to engage with Israel and other countries in the region and even beyond to try to widen this circle of opportunities for normalization, and we will seek other opportunities to strengthen cooperation between these countries and between Israel and its neighborshe added during a press conference at the Foreign Press Center in Washington.

Responding to a question regarding the Negev Forum, the spokesperson for American diplomacy recalled that the members of this Forum have set up several working groups focused on six key areas: Regional security, clean energy, food and water security. , health, tourism and education, and coexistence.

These working groups “seek to advance coordination initiatives between the founding members of the forum to encourage what it is all regarding: regional integration, cooperation, development for the benefit of the peoples of the region, including of course initiatives that might strengthen the Palestinian economy and improve the quality of life of the Palestinian people”he noted.

“The Negev Forum process is regarding building bridges and creating opportunities,” Price said, while emphasizing the importance of working towards a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
