The Washington Capitals are preparing for a new era and have a new vision for the future, and it looks likeAnthony Mantha will not be part of it.
According Frank SeravalliWashington has no intention of keeping the 28-year-old, who has one year left on his contract.
“Capitals have let teams know they are ready to part ways with Mantha”writes Seravalli, who adds: “They will probably have to add a premium to this transaction considering his salary of 5.7 million”.
The Capitals have an estimated $7.3 million wiggle room for next season, with just 17 players signed, according to Cap Friendly. Squad changes are expected following the club missed the playoffs for the first time since 2013-14.
Mantha’s best season dates back to 2018-19 when he had 25 goals and 23 assists for 48 points in 67 games.
