United States – Yesterday, Tuesday, the United States urged the Israeli government to conduct a “quick, comprehensive and impartial” investigation into the killing of a number of employees of the “World Central Kitchen” organization following an attack on Tel Aviv in central Gaza.
This came in a press conference held by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, with his French counterpart Stephane Ségournet in the capital, Paris, and an Anadolu correspondent followed it.
On Monday evening, the Israeli army targeted the “International Kitchen” convoy in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, killing 7 people of the nationalities of Australia, Poland, Britain, the United States, Canada, and Palestine.
“We spoke directly with the Israeli government regarding this incident, and urged it to conduct a prompt, thorough and impartial investigation to understand exactly what happened,” Blinken said.
Blinken expressed his “deep” condolences to the families of the victims, stressing that “humanitarian workers must be protected” in the sector.
He stressed the need for Israel to protect civilians, including children, women, and aid workers in Gaza.
For his part, the French Foreign Minister condemned the attack, saying that “nothing justifies the tragedy of the Israeli bombing once morest the employees of the World Central Kitchen.”
Sigourney stressed that “protecting humanitarian workers is a moral and legal necessity that everyone must adhere to.”
Earlier Tuesday, the “Global Kitchen” announced the suspension of its operations to transport humanitarian aid in Gaza, expressing its feeling of “shock” at the killing of 7 members of its team in an Israeli army raid on Gaza.
The organization explained that “despite coordination with the Israeli army, the convoy was bombed while leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse (central Gaza Strip).”
For its part, the Israeli army claimed in a statement on Tuesday that it had opened an “in-depth investigation into the incident through the highest ranks in the army to understand all its circumstances.”
Since Monday evening, Arab and international condemnations have continued for the targeting of international aid workers while they were trying to mitigate the effects of the “starvation war” practiced by Israel on Gaza, in addition to the catastrophic destruction it inflicted on the Strip over a period of 6 months.
