Washington – The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced yesterday, Thursday, the arrival of F-22 Raptor aircraft to the region as part of US reinforcements to confront the threats of Iran and the groups supported by it.
“US Air Force F-22 Raptor fighters arrived in our area of responsibility on August 8,” CENTCOM said.
The move came as part of US forces’ deployment in the region, and to deal with the threats posed by Iran and the groups it supports, according to the same statement.
For more than a week, Israel has been anticipating retaliatory responses from Iran and the Lebanese factions, after the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran, and the Israeli army’s announcement of the killing of prominent leader Fouad Shukr in a raid on the Beirut suburb last week.
With full American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, leaving more than 131,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amidst massive destruction and deadly famine, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
In contempt of the international community, Tel Aviv continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
