Hua Chengyan (Chiyo), a “new generation of fun singer-songwriter”, has half Japanese blood and is a top student from the prestigious Waseda University. Because she won the ICC International Singing Competition, she was signed by Tetsuya Komuro to cultivate her. Co-created and debuted in Avex Japan as a girl group, she will hit the Chinese music scene with her second new EP “X Paradise”.
Hua Chengyan has loved music since she was a child, she can play 6 instruments including piano, guitar, ukulele, clarinet, bass, keyboard, and even vocal music. She showed her talent in acting when she was in school. The lead singer and guitarist of the band is also an important member of the Waseda Korean Dance Club.
The title song “How to Love” was composed by Hua Chengyan. She shared the spirit of the work, saying: “Life is only 30,000 days, do interesting things, be with everything you like, and use music to create your own spiritual paradise. X-Land! Excellent!” The EP name “X Paradise” comes from this, because the pronunciation of “X-Land” is similar to the English “Excellent”.
During the 3 years of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hua Chengyan showed her creativity and play ability, and Slash has a new identity as an “illustrator”. In the creative surprise project “StayArt Meets Art” of Mayday fashion brand STAYREAL’s 15th anniversary, she created characters through her own “Mao Buzhi” shows the REAL sense of freedom that is not bound by shackles.
For the “X Paradise” EP, Hua Chengyan came to Long Stay, Taiwan. She was very curious regarding werewolf killing, and found a werewolf killing club through the Internet, and played with a group of doctors, lawyers, and teachers.
