Battery factories

The green alternative LMP files a complaint once morest unknown persons because of another accident in a battery factory. SK On denies this.
The incident occurred on Sunday in Komárom. According to a local television station, a dozen injured employees at the SK Batteries battery factory in Komárom were taken to hospital in the evening following hydrogen cyanide was possibly released into the air during production. The mobile disaster control laboratory was unable to measure any limit values for hazardous substances that were exceeded. Meanwhile, firefighters spoke “secretly” to concerned citizens that certain limit values had been exceeded dozens of times. A large contingent of ambulances and police in front of the factory supports this representation.
Not the first time
It is not the first time that an accident has occurred in this factory, the LMP responded. Such incidents in the battery manufacturing and processing environment are becoming more and more common. The government’s efforts to bring more and more factories into the country that work with hazardous substances are a mistake. In a written request to the government, the LMP is demanding clarification regarding what really happened. The opposition party is also filing a complaint once morest unknown persons to find out whose negligence caused another accident at the battery factory in Komárom.
LMP proposals to make surveillance data public and to introduce stricter penalties had been swept away by Fidesz in the past. Such measures might have prevented the current incident or at least ensured that appropriate sanctions might be imposed. The Greens want to submit their proposals once more in the current parliamentary session.
No limit was exceeded!
On Tuesday, SK On Hungary Kft. denied all allegations of alleged pollutants in the air. The parent company of SK Batteries told the official news agency MTI that eight employees had complained of headaches and were then taken to the clinic. From there, however, they were all released home following their examination. The measurements from a mobile disaster control laboratory clearly showed that no hazardous substances were present in the air above the legal limits.
The management of the Korean company emphasized that every effort is being made to ensure that the operation does not endanger the safety of employees or residents. An internal investigation has been ordered to identify the problem and take further preventive measures.
SK On also took the opportunity to deny allegations in the media that were spread in connection with an incident on January 20, 2022. According to this, there are false reports that 29 employees were exposed to carcinogenic materials at the time. All measurements in the factory as well as in the surrounding area have shown that the limit values are being met. At that time, 21 employees were examined in the clinic with headaches, but were able to go home without any further complaints.
