Victoria Rojas She is 17 years old, she is a native of the city of innsMisiones, and made history by being among the top 10 students in the world in the Global Student Prize, a prize that awards US$ 100,000 to the winner.
The young woman, who is finishing her high school at a technical school, had already been summoned to participate, representing Argentina, in a model United Nations international.
In this way, Victoria ranked in the top 10 among 3,851 students from 122 countries who signed up and is the first Argentine woman to reach a final stage, following being highlighted for her educational projects that started when she was just 9 years old.
In an interview with the Clarín newspaper, the missionary student revealed that it all started in third grade, when he launched an initiative to promote reading among his peers.
Some time later, upon entering the School of Robotics, he presented a project to improve sleep quality through a pillow with various functions and an official program to study the ecosystems of local rivers, called «the world in a drop«.
The decision that changed everything
At 15 years old, Victoria ventured into issues related to citizenship, stage in which he began to participate in the United Nations model. There, students have to take the voice of a country before a conflict or situation.
It went so well for him in that instance that he was summoned to the Mercosur Youth Parliamentwhere he gave his first speech representing the province of Misiones.
During the report with the capital newspaper, the 17-year-old told that, following passing through Mercosur, was selected to be part of the “Young Ambassadors 2022” programorganized and led by the United States Embassy.
“Since I was little I had the mixture between the two worlds, both the creative and the rational. Now I am studying the fifth year of Master of Works – at the San Arnoldo Janssen Polytechnic Institute, in Posadas-, which is like architecture, but on a calmer level. And creativity applies there in all areas, not only artistically, but also in solving problems.”, recounted the young woman, who also highlighted the influence of her parents.
When asked what he would do if he kept the $100,000 prize, he assured that, first of all, I would look for a financial adviser and then would dedicate “a good part” to promoting Innovation projectsan initiative that promotes other projects led by young people.
